Went to Newfoundland...

Well, last week I ended up going to St.John's Newfoundland, so I hit up the food circuit there. Unfortunately, my dad did not want pictures taken inside the pub, but you can see the outside of it (and a beautiful shot of the city).
It was lunchtime so I ordered some fishcakes and chips (fries). The thing that struck me immediately was the lack of salt in the food, followed by the realization of how delicious it was when doused in salt. Hmm...maybe I should send the chef a note. What was most fascinating was the perfect blend of fresh fish and potatoes inside each patty. Although it came apart easily, the outside remained perfectly formed until you dug it.
The food there is very heavily influenced by it's relative proximity to Ireland and the ocean, which provided a very positive but different experience in all.
Oh....and the frozen white Russian cocktails were delicious (not endorsing drinking, just saying.)
